Demeter and Persephone

When Hades, the king of the Underworld, abducts young Persephone and imprisons her in his kingdom deep beneath the earth, her mother Demeter is stricken with grief. Demeter must summon a mother's bravery to rescue her daughter from Hades' clutches. Will Persephone ever see the light of day again? AUTHOR: Hugh Lupton has been a central figure in the British storytelling revival for more than thirty years. He tells myths, legends and folk tales from many cultures. His many books include TALES OF WISDOM AND WONDER, THE STORY TREE, AND THE ADVENTURES OF ACHILLES and THE ADVENTURES OF ODYSSEUS, which he and Daniel Morden wrote and narrated together. Daniel Morden has been a professional storyteller for over 20 years. His book DARK TALES FROM THE WOODS won the Tir na nog Children's Book Prize in 2007. In 2006, Daniel and Hugh received the Classical Association's Award for "the most significant contribution to the public understanding of the classics." Carole Henaff is inspired by her travels and is never without her sketchbook. She studied theatrical literature in Paris before moving to Barcelona to study graphic design and illustration.
